The Money Management service encourages and supports people to take back control of their finances. We help people to identify financial problems, make informed choices and build their capacity to manage their money. We teach people how to do internet banking and how to access financial information and services using mobile devices and computers. We also help people to do their tax returns.

We travel to homelands with Bawinanga’s Tucker Run so that we can listen and respond to the money management needs of people living on outstations too, and help them with their shopping.

Where appropriate, we refer clients to agencies and institutions that offer relevant assistance, education and expertise, including Centrelink, the Financial Ombudsman, Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education, and the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency.

Another service we provide is to help people from Maningrida and the homelands apply for identification documents and for cards that give access to services:

  • birth or death certificates
  • NT driver licence cards
  • Medicare cards
  • DHS Pensioner Concession Health cards
  • Bank cards (all major banks and credit unions)
